- Roll of paper (we used brown postal paper to make the white snowman pop)
- Markers
- Scissors
- White cardstock
- Colored paper
- Painters tape
- Bowls to trace (3 sizes)
I always love to keep a roll of brown craft paper on hand. I find it in the postal section at Target and it's great for wrapping gifts, painting projects, and games like this!
How to Set Up This Build a Snowman Game:
- Draw a snowman unto large craft paper by tracing different sized bowls.
- Draw a matching snowman on white paper and cut it out.
- Make snowmen accessories using colored paper (nose, eyes, hat etc) and cut them out.
- Tape the large paper snowman on the craft paper to the wall.
- Hide the snowman pieces/accessories around the house with tape.
Now you're ready to play!

Once all the snowman pieces are hidden, tell your kids to go and hunt for the snowman pieces around your house!
Then, match them to the wall. Stick them on with painter's tape.
Once you've matched them all...
take them off...
hide them again...
and REPEAT!
Your kids will love this easy snowman movement game! They can even take a turn hiding all the pieces for YOU to find.
(Pst... while they're off hunting for the pieces, put your feet up and relax for a second. I sometimes like to hide them in really hard places so that my break can be a little bit longer)
What are kids learning?
This game gets kids moving around, but that's not all! While they're playing and hunting, they're working on all sorts of skills. Here are a few of them:
- Counting the pieces (like the buttons) as they add them to the snowman.
- Sequencing as they try and put the pieces in order from little to big.
- Fine motor skills as they grab the tape and carry the pieces from their hiding spot and stick them onto the snowman.
- Problem solving skills as they hunt for the pieces of the snowman.
- Directional words as they look under, over, and inside of things and you give them hints!
- Colors as they describe the snowman pieces and add them to their creation!
- Gross motor skills as they run and climb and bend and move to hunt for their snowman!
- And more!
We couldn't pass up a season or holiday without another easy learning hunt! They never seem to get old!
