Whenever I purchase a roll of contact paper it leads to hours of fun. One of our favorite uses of contact paper is to make sticky walls!
Sticky walls are created when we adhere contact paper to a wall, door, or window (sticky side out) with tape. Once the sticky wall is up we use it to create, explore, and learn!
Last week I created a simple textured egg sticky wall for my toddler. Here's what we used and how we created and learned with it.
Supplies: contact paper, tape, sharpie, scissors, materials with different textures (paper, pom poms, ribbon, feathers, tissue paper, etc.).
Directions:
Before we stuck the contact paper onto our window, I drew a large oval "egg" on the smooth side of the contact paper with a sharpie. Then we taped the contact paper onto our window so that it was sticky side out and we could see the egg.
We gathered up various textured materials and put them close by our sticky wall.
My toddler had fun creating and sticking different textured objects onto the sticky surface and then her big brother joined in as well! They talked about textures, shapes, colors, and sizes while they worked.
We ended our creating session with my toddler's favorite activity- destruction!! She tore everything off the egg and made a huge mess on the floor. That part of the activity was way more fun to her than building and designing her textured egg.
Activities for toddlers don't have to be fancy or require a lot of set up time or materials... especially if they are like mine and like to destroy as much as they like to create. 🙂 Toddler attention spans can be so short, so I love activities like these that are quick and easy to put together.

I love this idea! I really need to get out and buy some contact paper.
We have spent the last week playing with wobbly Easter eggs andnextcomesl.blogspot.ca/2013/03/wobbly-easter-eggs.html and painting large paper eggs with water and tissue paper.
We did this (without the egg shape) and we had this up for over a week, so my son could just go and be creative whenever he wanted. We couldn't get the pompoms to stick though!
