This month for Virtual Book Club for Kids we are featuring books by Paul Galdone.
Paul Galdone writes a lot of books, but most of my favorites are his retellings of classic children's books like The Little Red Hen, The Three Little Pigs, and The Gingerbread Boy.
This week I am sharing a simple art activity we decided to do after we read The Three Little Pigs.
If you are familiar with the story of The Three Little Pigs than the connection to our art activity is pretty obvious. In the story of the three little pigs there is a big bad wolf that tries to blow down each pig's house so that he can eat them. Some houses were easier to blow down than others... but either way he had to blow really hard!
We decided to pretend we were the big bad wolf and do our own blowing... but instead of blowing down houses, we blew paint!
Just like the story is a classic, blow painting is a classic kid activity that we like to do again and again. In the past we've done it to create our own popcorn cherry blossom trees.
This week we just added colorful paint (with a little bit of water) to our paper and blew the paint around using straws.
Eventually we went from blowing to painting with straws and that made the pictures look in even cooler.
My next goal is to try straw bubble painting with my kiddos like Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas shared. I've tried my own version in the past and it didn't work... so I am determined to get it right this next time.
Here are a few of our other favorite types of painting activities...

What a fun idea! We haven't tried blow painting yet, but I think my oldest would love it!
