1. Mermaid Nail Salon
For this station, we had a special helper paint the girl's nails! We covered the table in white paper to contain the mess. Here's what we included at the mermaid nail salon.
Mermaid Nail Salon Supplies
- Variety of nail polish
- Nail stickers
- Nail polish remover pads
2. Make a Mermaid Craft
For this activity, girls used craft sticks and materials to create their own mermaid crafts. The mermaid kit came with string for the girls to wrap around the craft sticks. We decided to adapt it and just have the girls decorate the craft stick with markers and stickers, instead of string.

3. Decorate a Shell
For this open ended art activity, kids painted shells with washable paint. Once the paint dried, they added gems to decorate their shells!

4. Mermaid lunch time
For our Mermaid lunch time, we kept things pretty simple and added a few fun accents to the table to jazz it up a bit! It's amazing how just adding a few things into the middle of the table can make kids so excited!
Mermaid Party Table Decor Supplies
- Mermaid scales tablecloth
- Netting table runner kit
- Shells scatter (from a craft store)
- Jugs for beverages (with wipeable chalkboard stickers)
- Mermaid plates
- Mermaid and shell paper straws
- Mermaid tassel banner
Mermaid Party Lunch Menu
- Crab sandwiches (croissants with turkey & cheese and toothpicks with googly eyes stuck to them) Inspired by The Trophy Wife Style.
- Chips/pretzels
- Blue drink (Diet 7-Up with blue food coloring)
These milk jug style glasses were a gift to myself for future parties! They are so cute and would be easy to repurpose again and again! I love that the labels are reusable and you can wipe them off.
5. Swimming or Water Play activities
For the first hour of the party we did activities and lunch and the second party was all about swimming! If you don't have a swimming pool, grab some sprinklers or large kiddie pools for water fun!
Here are some of our favorite water party activities you could add in too!
6. Mermaid Cupcake time
Cupcakes are such an inexpensive party food! You can fancy them up with a topper and some sprinkles and they look just like you bought them at a fancy bakery! We used some decorating tips to make the icing look a bit nicer too.
Mermaid Cupcake Supplies
- Mermaid tail topper
- Sparkly pink sprinkles
- Gel food coloring
- Cake mix (Any flavor works! We did funfetti)
- Cupcake liners
- Shell plates for cupcakes
7. Mermaid Tattoo Shop
In addition to swimming, my daughter really wanted to do mermaid tattoos! We saved them for the end of the party (so they wouldn't wash off in the water) and ended up just sending them home with the girls.

8. Get a Mermaid party bag
At the end of the party, we sent kids home with a Mermaid party bag. Sometimes I only gift one larger thing, sometimes we do party bags, sometimes they just get the things they made at the party to take home. This year Annabelle and I found several things she thought her friends would love, so we put them together in party bags.
We got the adorable Mermaid gift bag tags from KG Paper Boutique on Etsy.
What was inside the Mermaid party bags?
- Mermaid tail key chain (my kids love to put key chains on their backpacks)
- Mermaid shell necklace and bracelet
- Bubbles
- Ring pop
- Mermaid mini notebook (we got these for Annabelle's friends at Valentines but they didn't arrive in time)
- Mermaid tail pen
