Indoor Baking Soda Science Activity for Preschoolers

What experiment can you do with baking soda? We love this simple (and giant) indoor baking soda science activity for preschoolers!

Toddlers and preschoolers will love this classic baking soda and vinegar experiment that they can do indoors! We do fizzy science bins all year long (even Christmas fizzy drips science bins) and they are always popular!

How do you set up this indoor baking soda and vinegar experiment?

Before you get started, you need to make sure you have all the materials!

• Baking soda (I love the big bags from Costco)
• Vinegar (I love the big bottles from Costco)
• Liquid watercolors
• Spill proof paint cups
• Jumbo droppers or turkey basters
• 32 QT sensory bin (underbed storage bin)

Setting this up is so simple! Here's how to get prepped for this indoor baking soda science activity:

• Pour baking soda into your large sensory bin. Spread out the baking soda to fill the base of the bin.
• Put vinegar into several cups and add a few drops of liquid watercolors. Stir.
• Add jumbo droppers (or pipettes or turkey basters) into the cups of vinegar and you're ready to start exploring.
• Give each child a cup of vinegar and a dropper and they're ready to start squirting the vinegar onto the baking soda!

The colorful fizzy eruptions are so fun to watch!

Not only is this a fun science activity, but it's also a great way to help kids build their fine motor skills as they squeeze and suck up the vinegar using their droppers and turkey basters.
