Our A Very Toddler Christmas Series is quickly coming to a close. Yesterday we made sparkly name trees and the day before we made some yummy homemade treats and shared them with friends.
For Day 21 of our A Very Toddler Christmas Series we turned ourselves into Giant Gingerbread People!
This is such a super simple activity that can take a long time or a short time depending on your kids and their attention spans. If you join in and create with them most kids will create for longer!
To turn yourselves into giant gingerbread people you only need a few materials.
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR GIANT GINGERBREAD PEOPLE:
- large roll of paper (we used brown and white)
- painter's tape (to tape paper to the floor)
- Sharpie
- washable markers and crayons
- stickers
- scissors
- tape (washi tape, electrical tape, etc)
- any other embellishments
DIRECTIONS:
Start off by laying out a big roll of paper and then taping down the ends (or around the entire paper). Make sure the paper you lay out is long enough for the child that is going to lie down on it.
Next use a Sharpie to trace around their body.
Once their gingerbread man shape is traced then they can get started decorating! My kids put buttons on their gingerbread people and eyes and hair and all sorts of other things.
They also raided my craft cupboards for other embellishments like stickers and washi tape.
It was fun to see their creativity and how each one was different.
Make sure to use washable markers (if you use markers) or else you might get some new permanent designs on your floor. 🙂
This activity was super goofy and had the kids laughing a lot. I love that we can leave out our gingerbread men on the floor and decorate them throughout the day or we can roll them up and then bring them out another day to add more to them.
